If you had your choice, who would you rather face in the playoffs?
Okay, so it may seem like a really big IF as to whether the Kings even get into the playoffs, and of course it still is. However, in keeping with my renewed faith, rejuvenated optimism and a great Tarot reading from Madame Moldavia, I am just going to continue to believe the Kings will get in.
For me, the playoff picture seems to have clarified a great deal, but only as far as the way it relates to the Kings. It really seems simple: we’re gonna finish either 3rd, 7th or 8th, and we’re gonna face one of just three teams.
If we finish 3rd, we’re gonna face Chicago. They are 4 points behind Nashville and 5 behind Detroit. Nashville and Detroit are locked in a battle for home ice as the 4th and 5th seeds, and with only 6 games left Chicago seems very unlikely to pass either of them.
If we finish 7th or 8th, we are gonna face either St. Louis or Vancouver. We don’t know if we’ll finish 7th or 8th, but we also don’t know which of Vancouver or St. Louis will finish ahead. We do know that the 7th and 8th seeds play the 1st and 2nd seeds. Again, the two teams in question are locked in a battle, this time for 1st in the Conference, and nobody is gonna pass them.
So, you see, it is simple. If the Kings get in, they will probably face one of three teams. Who’s your pick?
